When we speak of our greatest loss that night we invariably say "We lost Adm Scott and Adm. Callaghan!"

ADMIRAL SCOTT WAS REVERED BY THOSE THAT SERVED UNDER

HIS COMMAND, INCLUDING THIS AUTHOR.

HE WAS AWARDED THE CONGRESSIONAL MEDAL OF HONOR FOR HIS GALLANTRY IN THE THIRD BATTLE OF SAVO ISLAND, NOV. 13,1942.

WHILE HIS FLAGSHIP THE ATLANTA WAS ENGAGING THE JAPANESE BATTLESHIP HIEI HE WAS MORTALLY WOUNDED.

THE ATLANTA ALSO WAS LOST IN THAT ACTION
