Elwood Grant Grace, F3, USN
Elwood Grace’s mother enlisted him in to the Navy at the age of 16. My brother said he was shot with a 50 caliber round from a Japanese plane, in the left arm just above the elbow when he was on deck of the San Francisco (my father was left handed). He was classified as a F3c (fireman 3rd class) when he served aboard the San Francisco.
He served on the U.S.S. San Francisco (July 17, 1942 – November 14, 1942).
He was born in Stockton, California, January 1, 1926, He died May 28 1984 in Sepulveda California and was buried June 1st, in Hollywood Hills, California.
To his friends he was known as “Buzz”.
